Rose , Drunk

I was given a pot of beautiful rose the other day

to celebrate this

I created this Drunk, Rose cubist work

: painted within a case which used to carry wine from France

on one side : Madonna and child , inspired by the tabernacle of SS annunziata, Florence

on the other sides: inscription of poem by Yuan Mei ( 1716-1797)

" the beauty sees the Flower

forgetting that she herself is the flower

had the flower known

she would have been bloom at her place

the lid of the cube is a painting titled ' Chinese fans and seashells' , which is painted to recall the series I did in 1982, as well as my first personal exhibition with the same title held in 1983 at Carlton Studios, Edinburgh, Scotland.

Thank you for the Rose and for the memories
