Couple days ago my brother WhatsApped me an article about famous collectors of Art; an article of an interview with three most important Art collectors, investigating how they became successful and the reasons behind

In the same afternoon, while strolling in the centre of Florence, I tried to remember an address of a private Contemporary art collector, who, if I did not remember incorrectly, has a private collection worthy to pay a visit to

The Address seems to be: Piazza Santa Trinita’ n.1

I went to the Bridge of Santa Trinità area and did not manage to locate it

What a location- we were surprised

But Antonio managed to find it -

It is almost next to the Ferragamo Palace, across from the church of Santa Trinita’

So we spent sometime there, where I took this attached video sequence

Those who know Florence well must be pleased to find a private museum such as this one that houses a significant contemporary Art collection

It was during a visit to the then much loved Florentine painter Rosai ‘s studio that he

I enjoyed watching the video where the collector Roberto CASAMONTI explained how he began to fall in love with art-

seemed to have grasped the importance of creativity.( Rosai was commissioned to paint a portrait of his father )

He was only twelve and must have been much impressed.

He then became a lover of Art

And because of such an exposure

And later friend of many important artists

The collection clearly shows his affinity for the artists and their works who were his friends

And an understanding

He cares for their works with a passion

Collection , therefore, makes sense when one is truly united with one’s vision

- or the artists’ vision

So to be successful or not is not important

Antonio says, at least the Collector managed to find such an impressive Palace to house his Collection

Next time if you have time to spend a few days in Florence, go to the historical centre, at n.1 Piazza Santa Trinità, you can visit this private collection free. ( open from Wednesday to Sunday)
