From Sunset to Sunrise

4/4/2021

Ching Ming Festival?

or the festival for the kids?

or

Easter?

At 18:30, we went to see the film TIME * at Hong Kong Cultural Centre.

Antonio thought it odd that I would drag him along to watch a film about killers and old age problems.

But he knew that I cared much about meeting the 84 years old actor Patrick Tse, who he knows through the many portraits I have done of Patrick ever since I began the project'  Hong Kong films and my childhood memories'.

The first time I met Patrick Tse the star was when I was eight years old (maybe nine ,) at our house as he came to my parents' silver anniversary.

Then I began to follow all his film projects in the seventies, probably not missing one. I still remember spending some afternoons at his place where his mother would serve us nice cakes and tea.

Those were the days.

Time flies and I left Hong Kong in 1976.

Before leaving, he said to me, I guess you would get married to an Italian.

He was right.

Antonio is Italian.

How he managed to be so prophetic I know not.

But meeting Patrick after so many years again warmed my heart.

He looked gorgeous, especially with his pleasant manner.

Antonio said he did not look 84.

The film was very well received by the audience.

It seemed to have touched the hearts of many . During the pandemic, the theme of loneliness and isolation applies to all, and not only to the Elderly.

The poster of the film with its beautiful colour reminded me of Monet's sunrise.

No more sunset, but sunrise. No more loneliness but hope.

It is like after 'Impression, sunrise ' of Monet, the whole world changed its vision about seeing;  the fleeting moment is now rendered on canvas.

How to live the moment and give it an eternal meaning has been raised in the film.

Those who are Cantonese speaking must have enjoyed the poetic lyrics.

Even Patrick sings in the film!

Congratulations! And thank you for signing your name on my ticket.

It is as if I had returned to my youth.

Maybe it's Easter.

We are all' revitalised.

Thank you.

Happy Easter

Thank you for the film.

Antonio
