I worked on A painted hypothesis notebook In 2013. The notes began in 2013, the paintings in 2015.

This book is not a summary of that research, but an afterthought of a journey that twists and turns into patterns sort of far away from the original intention.

The original idea took its roots in 1982, when Professor Cummings suggested me to look into the origin of Chinese Calligraphy in an original way. ( that is, in colour)

As life changes its course and at one point, it is time to stop and ponder to review certain essential values, whether it is about life, or about research, or about pictorial language -hence the beginning of the notes. The paintings on tiles were an attempt in  illustrating the text in a way more western orientated, approximating a visual language which is universally rooted, though with its roots in Chinese ideograms.

The  catalogues are in two volumes, with the second oversize volume titled A hypothesis workbook, in abridged version.

Volume 2 is dedicated to Sir Robin Philipson who gave me a chance to do my postgraduate studies at Edinburgh College of Art in 1982-1983.

Volume 1 is dedicated to Professor Cummings for his generosity.

I painted my house is a volume of my art pieces done in the house as well as art pieces installed in the garden of my house, allowing the garden to become a constant space for exhibiting artworks, even when no audience is invited. Hence, the importance of making catalogues of the installation.

This volume is dedicated to my parents who were born approximately 100 years ago.

Thank you Apple for helping me realise my catalogues.
